Privacy Policy — FormPilot

Introduction

FormPilot (Universal Form Auto-Fill Assistant) is a Chrome extension that helps you fill out web forms faster by matching form fields against a personal profile you create and manage yourself. Our core privacy commitment is simple: your data never leaves your device. We have no servers, no databases, and no way to see anything you store in the extension.

What Information We Collect

FormPilot only stores what you choose to enter into your profile. That may include:

Full name
Email address
Phone number
LinkedIn profile URL
GitHub profile URL
Resume or portfolio link
Any custom fields you add yourself

We do not collect any information automatically. Nothing is collected passively in the background, and nothing is collected unless you explicitly type it into your profile.

How Your Data Is Stored

All profile data is stored exclusively using chrome.storage.local — a built-in browser storage mechanism that keeps data on your device only, inside your Chrome browser profile.

There is no backend server, no cloud database, and no third-party storage service involved. Your profile data is never uploaded anywhere.

Only you can access this data through the extension. Mervix Technology has no technical ability to read, access, or retrieve it.

What We Access on Web Pages

To fill forms, FormPilot's content script runs on pages you visit and looks for form fields (e.g., fields labelled "Name", "Email", "Phone"). It reads only the labels and types of those fields in order to match them against your saved profile.

To be completely clear about what the extension does not do:

It does not read or capture password fields.
It does not log or store your browsing history.
It does not read the general page content — only form field metadata.
It does not capture, transmit, or record anything about pages you visit.
It does not monitor your activity outside of form-fill interactions.

The extension's fill logic is triggered on demand — it does not silently run in the background or observe your general browsing activity.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, rent, or transmit your data to any third party — ever.

FormPilot does not use analytics services, advertising networks, tracking pixels, or any third-party scripts. There is no code in the extension that communicates with an external server of any kind.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your profile data is kept in local browser storage until you choose to remove it. You have two straightforward ways to delete everything:

Clear from the extension: Open the extension's options/settings page and use the "Clear Data" (or equivalent) button. This immediately wipes all locally stored profile data.
Uninstall the extension: Removing FormPilot from Chrome permanently deletes all associated chrome.storage.local data. Nothing persists anywhere else, so there is nothing left behind.

Permissions Explained

Chrome requires extensions to declare every permission they use. Here is exactly why FormPilot requests each one:

storage

Allows the extension to save your profile data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. Without this permission, your profile could not be saved between sessions.

sidePanel

Allows the extension to display its side panel UI — the panel that shows you which form fields were detected and lets you trigger the auto-fill.

host_permissions
<all_urls>

Required so the content script can run on any website where you want to fill a form. Forms appear on countless different domains, so the extension needs broad permission to be available wherever you need it. This permission grants the ability to read form field labels on a page — it is not used to read any other page content, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Children's Privacy

FormPilot is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the extension, please contact us at the email below and we will take steps to address it — though in practice, since all data is local-only, deleting it is as simple as uninstalling the extension.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted at this same URL with an updated "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review it periodically. Since FormPilot does not collect contact information from users, we cannot notify you directly of changes, but the Chrome Web Store listing will reference the current policy URL.
